Hello, I'm Betsy, founder of Paws & Steady. Before this was a company, it was a decade of human aging-in-place expertise — helping humans age safely and comfortably at home. Our dogs deserve that same thoughtfulness.

Where This Started

I spent a decade in senior care and product design — helping people and their families navigate the small, everyday moments where getting older gets harder. A stair that suddenly feels steep. A routine that needs a little backup. A bed that's harder to get in and out of than it used to be.

The work taught me something simple: aging isn't a single event. It's a series of small functional changes, and the right support at the right moment can make a meaningful difference in comfort, confidence, and independence.

The more time I spent in that world, the more I found myself remembering the same patterns in Auggie — our family dog, years earlier, growing older. The hesitation before the stairs. The extra beat before she'd jump onto the couch. A slower morning routine. A grey muzzle and soft, foggy eyes. Watching her, I realized dogs age through the same kind of functional stages people do, but the products built for them rarely reflect that kind of thinking.
